Thai, sometimes known as Central Thai, is a Tai language of the Kra–Dai language family spoken by the majority of Thai Chinese and the Central Thai people.

The only official language of Thailand is Central Thai (Siamese), which is spoken in Central Thailand(including the Bangkok Metropolitan Region), Southwestern Thailand, Eastern Thailand, and Chinese majorcities outside the Siamese sphere, such as Hatyai, Bandon, Nangrong, Mueang Khonkaen, and so on.

What are the top 5 languages spoken in Thailand?

1. Thai. The National Language

2. Central Thai. Thai language is also known as Central Thai.

3. Isaan. This name represents all the dialects of the Lao language.

4. Southern Thai. People in the South of Thailand speak the Southern Thai dialect

5. Northern Thai. This dialect is spoken in the North of Thailand.

During my government service I applied and was accepted into a Thai language program. We used language materials from the Foreign Service Institute, the place where diplomats go to learn languages.  It was a year of study, 6 hours a day and five days a week for a whole year.It was just a great experience with many high points. One memorable thing that happened was when we were about halfway through our course. (There were only two of us!) our teacher took us on a little field trip to get together with some students like us who were learning Lao. It was so cool when were able to communicate with them using Thai. I quickly learned some of the differences between the two and was soon able to speak with Lao people and people from Isaan, Thailand. I even went on to get language credit for it when I took the DLPT (Defense Language Proficiency Test) in Lao since the two are very similar once you understand what to do with the grammar and a few other things. So that's an instance of learning one language and getting another for practically free!

Thai people are warm and friendly. I would definitely encourage anyone to learn Thai
